The error NvStreamUserAgent.exe – Application error” is usually associated with GeForce Experience application and the module responsible for streaming your gameplay on systems running on NVIDIA GPU’s. NvStreamUserAgent.exe runs the client program for the Nvidia GameStream application, a part of the Nvidia GeForce Experience.

NvStreamUserAgent stands for Nvidia GameStream User Agent

The conditions and responses for this error vary from the computer shutting down completely to the error message just popping up when you start your system. Normally, this isn’t an error to be alarmed of and can be avoided by following the simple steps listed below. Take a look.

Solution 1: Disabling NVIDIA Streamer Service

Like mentioned before, NVIDIA Streamer Service is responsible for streaming your gameplay across multiple devices. It is this module which causes the error message under discussion to crash. What we can do is disable the service and see if the error message still persists.

  1. Press Windows + R, type “devmgmt.msc” in the dialogue box and press Enter.
  2. Once in the services window, navigate through all the entries until you find “NVIDIA Streamer Service”. Right-click it and select

  1. Open its properties and set its startup type as “Disabled”. Press Apply to save changes and exit. Now restart your computer and check if the problem gets solved.

Solution 2: Updating/rolling back Graphics drivers

Now if disabling the above service doesn’t work, we can try either updating or rolling back your currently installed drivers. We can do that either automatically (using Windows update), or manually (using NVIDIA website).

Before we move on, it is necessary to uninstall all kind of NVIDIA software present on your computer. This may fix the problem altogether without having to update the drivers at all.

  1. Press Windows + R, type “appwiz.cpl” in the dialogue box and press Enter.

  1. Right-click on each of NVIDIA’s software and select Uninstall.

Reboot your computer completely and check if the error went away. If it didn’t, follow the steps below.

  1. Boot your computer into safe mode, press Windows + R, type “devmgmt.msc” in the dialogue box and press Enter. Navigate to the device manager, locate NVIDIA hardware, right-click it and select Uninstall device. Now reboot your computer.

  1. In most cases, the default drivers will be installed against the hardware. If not, right-click on any empty space and select “Scan for hardware changes”.

Now check if the error message still persists. If it still does, follow the steps listed below.

  1. Now there are two options. Either you can search online for the latest driver available for your hardware from the NVIDIA’s official website. (and install manually) or you can let Windows install the latest version itself (search for updates automatically).

First, you should try updating the hardware automatically. Right-click on your hardware and select “Update driver”. Select the first option “Search automatically for updated driver software”. Choose the second option if you are updating manually and select “Browse for driver” and navigate to the location where you downloaded.

  1. Restart your computer after installing the drivers and see if the error message still pops up.
