Error code 505 on Android appears when a user attempts to install an app and the installation fails. The failure is due to an application having issues with the permissions system. Whilst this error code can’t be fixed directly, newer versions of Android released after the error started to appear in November 2014 are able to resolve the issue. Method 1
If you are using Android 5.0 Lollipop, the 505 error code can be caused due to compatibility issues with permissions between Android 5.0 and apps using Adobe Air. A simple fix will be to update your version of Android. Follow the guide below to update Android. The information below is based on an LG G4 – the names of each bolded word below may differ slightly on your device.
Visit the Settings app
Scroll to the bottom and tap About phone
Tap Update Center
Tap Software Update
Tap Check for Update
Let your device search for updates
Hopefully an update will be available. If so, you will be prompted to download and install it.
Go through the on-screen instructions to install the new update.
If you cannot update your version of Android, there is an alternative option for you in method 2 below.
Method 2
Because you cannot download a new update, your only solution will be to change your version of Adobe AIR. First, it’s important to check which version of Android you are on. Follow the first step to locate your Android version.
Visit the Settings app
Scroll to the bottom and tap About phone
Tap Software info
View the information provided under Android version
Make note of your Android version for the next step
You’ll now need to download a version of Adobe AIR for your device. The version you download will depend on the version of your Android device.
If you are on Android 5.0 or lower:

Scroll down the webpage and tap the download link for Adobe AIR 14.0.0.179 Android (14.8 MB)
Wait for the file to download
Pull down the notification bar and tap the downloaded file
The file should start to install as a regular application
If prompted, follow the steps to check the unknown sources box
Restart your device after install
If you are on Android 5.0.1 or higher:
If you are on Android 5.0.1 or higher, visit the Google Play Store app from your device
Search for Adobe AIR
Tap the app store listing and install the app. If you already have the app installed, first uninstall it and then install it again.
Restart your device after install
Once you follow the steps above for your particular version of Android, you will be able to continue operation as normal and the 505 error code should be fixed.
