There is no doubt that Microsoft is one of the leading software companies in the world and their flagship operating system product “Windows” is not needy of an introduction to almost any person that has had the slightest interaction with computers. Despite that, we all agree on yet another statement without any doubt: They could never make the internet explorer a viable internet-browsing option for us and we always had to settle for third-party products. Well, at-least before Windows 10 was introduced and we were given a certain Microsoft Edge. A faster, more elegant and definitely comparatively more efficiently stable product, Edge was a long-anticipated revelation for most of the Windows users.
While Edge has considerable improvements over IE, there are still moments when we end up grabbing our head and wondering why we didn’t just download Firefox or Google Chrome already. One such Edge bug/problem/misbehavior is when a popup just hijacks our browser on visiting a webpage and endlessly repeats some text and just doesn’t appear. If you don’t know what we are talking about, take a look at the screenshot below:
The obvious straightforward solution would be to open the task manager, close the browser and start it again but that doesn’t work out. There are workaround that involve the use of msconfig and finding your way around some system configuration settings, but we will save you the trouble and give you a small, quick and definite fix. Follow the steps below:
If Edge is still open, the first step will be to close it down. To do so, you will have to open the task manager by holding CTRL key and pressing X and selecting Task Manager from the list. Once it opens, click More Details and from under the “Apps” section, find Microsoft Edge and then click on “End task” after selecting it.
In the “Cortona Search” that is present right next to your Windows logo at the bottom left, type google.com and hit enter.
Microsoft Edge should now open up with a new tab opened up with the Google website.
Now, you can just go ahead and close Edge down by clicking on the “X” button at the top right, Remember to not meddle with the offending tab at all, if it is there, just click the small x on the tab to close it. You will see it on the left side of your screen but you need to avoid opening it.
Now close Edge, and open Edge again and remember to not restore the previous session and open a new one. You will now find that the offending tab is no longer there.
